Canada believes its health-care system will be able to handle an increase in Covid 19-hospitalizations, marking a comeback of infections in the country.

As on March 31, the daily average case count in Canada had climbed by 28%. Fresh cases started to rise, soon after the Covid preventative limits were withdrawn. Additionally, the highly transmissible BA.2 sub-variant of the Omicron coronavirus, as well as diminishing immunity, may have aided the surge in cases.

According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 cases began to grow over the world in March due to the combined effect of the highly transmissible BA.2 sub-variant of the Omicron coronavirus and the lifting of public health and social measures. (Reuters, April 01, 2022)
